Lonely

Collecting toys, dirty unseen.
Haunted by the empty house, memories of motherhood only good.
No recollection of responsibility, no understanding of mentality.
Can read the writing on the wall, can't stop in time to catch her fall.
Poisoned by generational curse, childhood abuse, got hit by a bus.
It never came and got her.
Common sense a sting on a kite.
Cleanliness a star in the night.
Perception is vague, reality skewed.
Kept having babies cuz they were cute.
Didn't know any better, but why did he chose her?
Years of asbestos exposure or alcohol abuse?
Slid into denial their lives were normal.
Dirty, scared, hungry, dirty, scared, hungry.
Services came and purpose to help.
Too far gone and no cooperation.
That's how government decides a family no more.
With two previous ones the wives chose the kids.
This one's a kid herself and they both lose six kids.
Angry, sad, quiet. Angry, sad, quiet.
Never a job, never could drive, depending on abuse and lies.
Widowed so young she was half his age.
Tears in the night in her empty cage.
Vulnerability shines like the moon.
Hard to break free from the cocoon.
Why given light and nothing to pop, why all the pain?
Free yourself and brush off your wings, life is hear, it's what it brings.
Not your fault, and certainly not mine.
I'm doing my best and serving your time.
Don't kill the messenger, don't bite the hand that feeds you, look before you cross the street.
Fully rely on God. Seek Christ and his plan for you.
Never forget but keep the bus moving.

  2. Wow, I did. It is a poem about the birth mom of the kids we adopted. She was married to Luke's dad.
